Why a driver app

On the road today: what drivers and dispatch are frustrated by

The Trailo platform today covers dispatch, optimization and reporting in the browser. On the road, drivers currently work with the mobile-responsive web interface — and with the classic workaround stack: WhatsApp, phone, clipboard. The native app closes this gap.

Four daily friction points

What the app solves

  • "Are you at the customer yet?"

Status requests via WhatsApp and phone interrupt drivers and cost dispatch time. With the app: stop arrived / done with one tap — status flows back automatically.

  • Forms on a clipboard

Damage docs, inspection checks, cleanliness checks — today on paper or via phone camera, retyped in the office later. With the app: form right at the stop, with required fields, photo upload and signature.

  • Manual address entry in the navigation app

Every stop address gets typed into the navigation manually. With the app: one tap, and Google Maps or Apple Maps starts navigation with the pre-filled address.

  • Dead zones break tour status

In tunnels, basements or rural areas the data connection drops. With the app: store locally, automatic sync once the connection is back.

Trial users automatically get app access — as soon as it goes live.

What the app will do

Four feature blocks in detail

  1. Tour overview with stop info and shift plan

One clear tour view per day: stop order, time windows, address, job type, customer notes. Shift overview for multi-day tours — the driver sees what's coming this week and next. Set stop status with one tap (arrived, done, skipped).

    • Daily view with stop order and time windows
    • Shift overview for multi-day planning
    • Stop details: address, job type, customer notes
    • Status updates in one tap
  2. Fill out forms at the stop — with offline mode

Forms defined in Trailo's form builder are filled out directly at the stop: photo upload, signature, required fields, conditional logic. In a dead zone: store locally, sync as soon as the connection is back. Answers appear in the Trailo platform immediately for dispatch.

    • Forms filled out at the stop
    • Photo upload, signature, timestamp
    • Offline mode for dead zones
    • Automatic sync after reconnect
  3. Navigation via Google Maps or Apple Maps

Tapping the next stop opens the driver's preferred navigation app — Google Maps on Android and iOS, Apple Maps on iOS. Address pre-filled, navigation starts instantly. Familiar navigation UI, no second tool to learn.

  4. Driver can adjust the tour independently

Something new comes up on site: extra job, changed order, reschedule. The driver can add stops, change order, or shift jobs with a reason — and the changes flow back into the Trailo platform immediately. Dispatch and driver work on the same state.

    • Add stops on the go
    • Change stop order
    • Shift jobs with reason
    • Changes live in the platform

What works today — and what the app adds

  • Live today: mobile-responsive web interface

Drivers can sign in to Trailo via the smartphone browser today — view tours, check off stops, send simple updates. Sufficient as a bridge solution until the native app ships.

  • In development: native apps for iOS & Android

Offline mode, push notifications, optimized touch UI, integrated navigation, photo upload straight from the camera into the form. Release in App Store and Google Play to follow.

  • Pricing: included in every Trailo plan

No per-driver fee. App access is part of the Trailo platform. Not available as a standalone app without a Trailo account. One login per driver.

  • EU hosting, GDPR-compliant

App data flows into the same EU infrastructure as the web platform. Offline-stored data encrypted on device; sync encrypted via HTTPS. No third-country data flows.

The driver app is included in every Trailo plan — Starter, Professional and Enterprise.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the driver app

When will the driver app be available?

The driver app is in active development. We don't give fixed release dates — trial and existing customers are notified as soon as the apps are available in the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). Until then, drivers use the mobile-responsive web interface of Trailo.

How much does the driver app cost?

The driver app is included in every Trailo plan — no per-driver fee, no extra tier. It is available exclusively for existing Trailo users; a standalone App Store account without the Trailo platform is not possible.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes. The app has an offline mode: tours and stop info sync to the device; status updates, form answers and photos are stored locally and upload automatically once the connection is back. Dead zones and weak coverage are no longer a problem.

Which maps app handles navigation?

Tapping a stop opens the driver's preferred maps app — Google Maps on Android and iOS, or Apple Maps on iOS. Drivers use the navigation interface they already know — no second maps app to learn.

Can the driver add or change stops independently?

Yes. Drivers can add stops on the go, adjust stop order, or shift jobs with a reason. Changes flow back into the Trailo platform immediately — dispatch sees the current state live.

Does every driver need a separate account?

Yes. One login per driver with their own credentials — so status, docs and answers are correctly attributed to the person. Trailo supports multi-user with roles across every plan.

Which devices are supported?

iOS and Android. Specific minimum versions will be published with the release of the apps. The app is optimized for smartphones; it works on tablets as well.
